A customer of ours with the last name Collins had us do a custom piece for them, and it turned out beautifully!  They had emeralds and diamonds to be placed tastefully, so we had them channel set on both the top and bottom, as well as being aptly placed to accent the color of the emeralds.  This band is so striking in the yellow gold setting, and was a great addition to their collection!

As this custom piece was part of a continuing love story, this pendant has become a family treasure in the newly established Brown household!  We completed this beautiful piece in August of 2011, when Sterling's daughter Alison was given away into a marriage covenant to her now husband, Micah.  The bride had not yet chosen a pendant to wear on the special day, and being a jeweler's daughter, this was unheard of!  Sterling and the groom worked together off of the original design for the engagement ring, and with a few changes, designed the perfect bridal pendant which Micah gave to his bride during a quiet moment of the day before all of the wedding craziness began!

This one-of-a-kind pendant is made up of 14 karat white gold, both polished and brushed (placed to distinguish the dynamic design elements), with a suspended diamond charm, and the respective birthstones of the bride and groom, a garnet and a ruby!  All of these elements came together to make a truly joy-filled piece for the entire family, filled with love in the creation!

Here we have another successful design project from the hands of one of our designers, Sterling!  He designed this for his youngest daughter for her 18th birthday and subsequent graduation from homeschooling all the way through high school, and boy, is it a beauty!  This ring celebrates the dedication to education that Andrea not only showed, but also her mother, Bronni, as she instructed her throughout her life, only to turn her loose on a big world, and as a result, retired as a homeschool mom!

This ring flaunts itself in a setting of 18K royal yellow gold and 18 karat green Gold, all built around a 1.07ct fine blue zircon, flanked by .75ct ideal cut F/SI1 round diamonds!  The design was loosely based off of a royal elven ring that Andrea loved from the Lord of the Rings films (click here for a link to the film production version of Nenya, Galadriel ring!).  It went through several gold arrangement iterations, but eventually came out to be this beautifully elegant ring that she cherishes!

Here is a custom designed sterling silver, sapphire and bronze lepton pendant from Alexander Jannaeus*.  According to historical records, a lepton was the smallest coin used by the Jews. It had a value of about ¼ of a penny.  A double striking image on the reverse side (the front in our piece) shows the blundered spokes of the eight spoked wheel. Silver custom roman style bezel is set with a .25ct deep blue sapphire on a 18" cable chain with lobster clasp.

The Story of Cindy's Pride Ring

Here is a LITTLE ring we completed late last month! A 950 Palladium custom design ring with a one carat center diamond (an heirloom stone) and surrounded by who-knows-how-many diamonds that were harvested from Cindy's old bracelet, pendants, rings, and I-just-don't-wear-it-anymore collection of fine jewelery. If I remember correctly, this is a classic arrangement of over 6 carats of fine diamonds.

In addition to how pleased we were at the completion of this product, Cindy herself stopped by the store shortly afterward to say, "I'm getting a lot of compliments on my ring!", with a big grin! What can we say? She is not understated, but now enjoys her precious Dad's diamond and the fact that her husband worked hand in hand (with pun quite intended) with us to design a beautiful classic that is packed with sentimental value!

Mr. Wilson got the design ideas and I have to say, I went through four iterations of this ring to pack it with diamonds!

Five shark's teeth found on the coast of North Carolina by our customer. He and his wife make a pastime at the shore searching for these interesting finds. We created bezels and bales and mounted them on a silver toggle necklace 18" long and this piece has a certain "bite" to it.

We have a very patient customer in this one, he waited till we worked out a number of technical casting and molding issues for our first piece like this.

The custom bezel is inspired by a roman pendant design and is cast in 18K Royal Yelow gold and set with four round diamonds totaling .43 carat. SI1/H color and fine cut. The 18" snake chain is secured with a lobster clasp.

Tsavorite Garnet, a variety of Demantoid Garnet demonstrates the wide variety of colors in the spectrum that Garnet posesses. The Vibrant emerald green variety of garnet, Tsavorite graces the center of this ring. A marquise shape Tsavorite is flanked by four diamonds and two matched pear shape rubies in 14K White Gold and a euroshank to prevent rolling on the finger. Our Webmaster, Brian Montgomery sumbitted this Countersketch design in November 2011 and it was produced to demonstrate play of colors, symmetry and the versatility of the Countersketch desing program at Royal Diadem Jewelers.

The Center Tsavorite weighs 1.82 carats, the Rubies total  .66 carats and the Diamonds total .40 carats total weight.

Fist Century BC Widow's Mite (Bronze Lepton) set in a design inspired by a 3rd Century Byzantine Christian Cross. The secret of this piece is that the surface of the cross is a bas-relief of the exact coin that is set in it. This bronze lepton is a great example of an ancient bronze patina that takes thousands of years to develop. We carefully set and construct every single bezel to the specific ancient coin, adding durability and uniqueness for collectors and jewelry fans. The piece is set with zircons and tanzanite, oxidized and fit with a "V" shaped bale to a 24" heavy cable chain.

The ancient alloy of pure gold and pure silver makes the metal alloy Electrum the target of a beautiful rainbow patina on this ancient coin bezel set with a round brilliant cut diamond. Gold alloys never develop a deep luxurious patina on their own. We have oxidized the bezel for this Extra Fine Drachm, or Stater Greek ancient coin from the 4th Century B.C.:

The electrum bale shows the deep blue patina and is fashioned after ancient pendant designs from 2,410 years ago, more or less ;-). The Bronze PVD Steel chain shown is one of many possible chains, either Gold, PVD, or Silver to provide durability for a man or a woman who appreciates the fines in ancient coin jewelry.

It took recutting the sapphires to match them after an exhaustive search. There simply are not many princess cut purple sapphires available today. She was kind and patient, enabling our favorite colored stone supplier to find, present, recut and present the solution!
